Job Summary:
The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, financial performance, and business development activities at the facility. This role requires leadership in managing employees, ensuring smooth operations, maintaining financial accountability, and implementing company strategies to meet predetermined goals. The General Manager will work closely with the President and other departments to drive revenue growth, build client relationships, and maintain a positive company culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
- Implement the company’s values, mission, and strategic goals.
- Develop detailed business plans to meet operational and financial targets.
- Lead and mentor staff, ensuring alignment with company objectives and fostering a healthy corporate culture.
- Oversee daily operations and revenue generation to ensure continuous growth.
- Collaborate with the President and department managers on business development strategies and internal initiatives.
- Respond to and resolve operational issues, including client complaints and internal conflicts.
- Step in to cover operational tasks during staffing shortages or when necessary.
Business Development
- Contribute to business development strategies, focusing on sales innovations and profitability.
- Present logistics services to prospective and existing clients to build long-term partnerships.
- Identify new business opportunities and convert them into sustainable revenue streams.
- Oversee the facility’s P&L and prepare annual budgets.
- Conduct regular audits and stay informed on industry trends, competitors, and market opportunities.
- Drive quality improvements and cost control measures while expanding the facility’s capabilities.
Employee Development
- Lead pre-shift meetings to discuss operational updates, workload forecasts, and previous shift issues.
- Ensure proper onboarding and training for all new employees.
- Communicate department goals and performance expectations to staff.
- Manage employee performance and resolve any workplace conflicts or issues.
- Support team expansion based on business forecasts and historical performance data.
- Travel to other branches for company meetings or training as needed.
Safety and Security
- Ensure the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all company policies and standards.
- Promote and enforce safety initiatives, overseeing accident investigations and compliance matters.
- Implement measures to prevent incidents and improve facility operations.
Qualifications
- Bilingual Mandarin or Cantonese: REQUIRED
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience within the trucking, CFS office, or warehouse operations.
- Proficiency in managing warehouse and trucking equipment.
- Strong knowledge of TMS (Transportation Management System) and WMS (Warehouse Management System).
- Experience in interacting with stakeholders such as customers, customs authorities, and government agencies.
- Proven ability to manage teams, resolve crises, and effectively prioritize tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional demeanor.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Availability to work extended hours as needed based on customer or shipment demands.
